Project Summary

Stellenbosch University Network for Strengthening Rural Interprofessional Education for HIV (SUNSTRIPE) aims to improve the quality of HIV/AIDS services for rural and underserved communities through interprofessional HIV training. SUNSTRIPE uses Quality Improvement (QI) approaches and a distributed approach to capacitate health care teams serving rural and underserved communities. 

Key Accomplishments

  • 37 facilitators trained to lead 8 workshops
  • 155 learners (65 pre-service, 90 postgraduate) trained to deliver high-quality, team-based HIV care
  • Provided mentorship through WhatsApp group and video conferencing 
  • Responded to COVID-19 by adapting in-person trainings to online workshops
