Module 15

Pneumocystis Pneumonia and Advanced HIV Disease

The goal of this module is to prepare learners to provide person-centered care for a patient with an opportunistic pneumonia and advanced HIV disease. The module will involve interpreting treatment guide- lines and working in interprofessional teams to provide complex care.

What you will learn in Module 15

List a differential diagnosis for respiratory distress in a patient with HIV

Describe a diagnostic approach for cough and respiratory distress

Describe a therapeutic plan for a patient with Pneumocystis pneumonia

Identify people with HIV who have advanced HIV disease

Utilize World Health Organization guidelines to describe a package of services that should be offered to people with advanced HIV disease

Collaborate with an interprofessional team to care for a person with advanced HIV disease (IPC)

Medical personnel chat and confirm information
